KFM Mandolin, Adirondack Spruce, Curly Maple, No. 0145

$5,650.00
Sold

This mandolin has a hand-stained body with rich, dark Adirondack spruce top, and curly maple back, neck and sides. Ebony fingerboard and peghead veneer with mother-of-pearl inlay. Ivoroid binding with black/white purfling. Rubner quality tuners, cast bronze tailpiece. Comes with shaped, burlap covered (tan) Gator plywood case.

This instrument was started back in 1984 when Kettler Mandolins were still in regular production. It was never finished, however, because of problems with the top. But it was kept around and played for years “in the white” because it had a really nice tone, despite its flaws. Then recently the flawed top was removed and a new Adirondack spruce top was carved and tuned, and the final touches were put on it before offering it up for sale.
