KFM Mandolins
The KFM is the Kettler Mandolins take on the classic shape popularized by bluegrass players throughout the years, with its carved scroll and elaborate headstock shape.
The KFM is finished with a dark sunburst stain and a gloss lacquer finish, with contrasting ivoroid binding with black and white purfling. Other combinations of colorings, bindings and finishes are also available, including a natural blonde finish offset with dark walnut or rosewood bindings.
The KFM features a top of fine grained, quartersawn Adirondack spruce or ecologically harvested old growth Sitka spruce. Backs, necks and sides are select maple with distinctive flamed or quilted figuring. The necks are reinforced with carbon fiber to ensure that they stay straight. Adjustable “double action” truss rods are also available. Headstock veneers are ebony or rosewood unless otherwise noted, and inlays are hand cut mother-of-pearl. Tailpieces are cast unplated bronze, unless otherwise noted.
Tops, backs and tone bars are hand carved and individually tuned. Finally, the instrument is “voiced” by tuning the air chamber via the f-holes once it’s assembled. Each step combines to bring out the best tone, volume, and sustain in each mandolin.
More KFM mandolins are currently being built and finished and will be available soon. If you’re interested in a custom mandolin, pre-orders may also be available. Get in touch with the details of what you’re looking for.
