TF1 from 1981

This battle-worn mandolin was made in 1981. The shorter fingerboard extension shape was a redesign to help reduce pick noise.

The elongated headstock was a short-lived design. It looked cool, but it didn’t fit into standard cases.

The mother-of-pearl inlay is of a tree frog. At this point Kettler Mandolins were still being called Tree Frog Mandolins. The tree frog is small animal with a big voice just like this mandolin.
